Hi RFRD!
I’m Chris dela Torre of Axis of Conversation from Calgary – we make pop music out of voices, guitars, drums, electronics, a cello, a violin and other stuff.

Great idea for a website…central alberta needs something like this! Red Deer’s a kick-ass music scene for all genres I’ve found.
For fans of not-quite-traditional folk be sure to check out my site:

Hey,
We are ‘Twenty Centuries Of Stony Sleep’, a 5 piece indie band from Calgary. We have an EP released in 2008 entitled “The Children Of Lions And Garudas” and have just completed tracking 11 new tracks for our first full length release.
Strongly influenced by Tom Waits, Pixies, Pavement and authors including Aldous Huxley, Hermann Hesse, Salman Rushdie and Kurt Vonnegut, our music is a bit out of the ordinary.
Our line up includes a drummer that is also a pianist, a guitar player that is also a drummer, 3 song writers, 4 singers. Our songs are full of harmonies and strong lyrical content, and have been described as:
“Heartfelt and Romantic, at times Panicked and Frenetic”
“Heart pounding Art Rock”
We would love to play any indie festivals or showcases taking place in your lovely city.
All the best
Alexi
